October 13, 2020 marks the start of robotic milking for ComestarA 722’ X 143’ complex capable of accommodating 7 Delaval VMS 300 robots was built while the original farm was renovated.

A pillar of the Canadian Holstein industry, Marc Comtois is the man behind Comestar – a Quebec dairy farm that has been changing the face of dairy genetics around the world for over four decades. A farmer, promoter, mentor, marketer and judge, Marc has travelled the world to propagate the most exceptional genetics from the Comestar prefix for the benefit of Holstein breeders both in Canada and abroad. His accomplishments as a breeder are legendary, starting with Comestar Laurie Sheik, the cow that started the line and continues, seven generations later, to leave its mark on the Holstein breed. Marc was nominated by Holstein Quebec, Holstein Canada and the Semex Alliance

Comestar is recognized as the most influential breeder in the world over the last 25 years in the Holstein breed.

This title is awarded by the Holstein International magazine.

2017

COMESTAR LAUTRUST is #1
bulls in Canada for IVG and becomes the 14th Comestar bull to be EXTRA, making Comestar the first farm in the world to breed 14 EXTRA bulls

2016

Marc is judging for the second time the National Holstein Judging at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. His assistant judge is his friend Mr. Carl Saucier.

2015

Calbrett Goldwyn Layla EX-96-2E 21*
Layla finished 1st in the 50,000 kg and + class and was named Honorable Mention at the Expo-Printemps du Québec. A few days later, she was classified EX-96-2E. The same year, Layla also won the 150,000 lbs class at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, WI.

2014

1st Junior Breeder Herd at World Dairy Expo (Madison)Larion was named Junior Champion at the WDE after having also been named earlier in the year at the Expo-Printemps du Québec. Her full sister, Larianne, was named Junior Champion at the 1st edition of the Suprême Laitier and would also be named a few weeks later at the National Exhibition of Mexico.

Marc receives the Certificate of Superior Merit awarded by Holstein Canada 19 certificates have been awarded in 128 years. Marc is the 2nd Quebecer to receive this title.

2nd Master Breeder title by Holstein CanadaWe received it with our friends Nicole and Freddy Steen with whom we have been associated for 15 years.

2008

National Dairy Shrine Distinguished Breeder, Presented by WDE, Madison, WI Marc and France are the first Quebecer and second Canadian to receive this title
